Harry Myer, Journalist, Dead at 72

Harry Myer, London journalist and public figure, died in Majorca on Dec. 28 at the age of 72. He was born in Yassi, Rumania, and brought to London by his parents as an infant. He was educated at the London School of Economics, after which he joined his father, Morris Myer, founder and editor of the London Yiddish daily. “The Jewish Times,” as production manager. On his father’s death in 1944 he took over the editorship and edited the last London Yiddish daily until it closed down for lack of readers in 1951. Mr. Myer was a former vice-president of the Zionist Federation, vice-chairman of the British section of the World Jewish Congress and vice-chairman of the Poale Zion. He will be buried in Israel.
