South African Jewish communal leader Max Greenstein, 71, was killed last night in a car accident here. He was national treasurer and vice-president of the South African Jewish Board of Deputies, honorary life president of the Board of Jewish Education, vice-president of the Israel United Appeal, vice-president of the South African Jewish Appeal and held many other leading positions. His death is viewed by the Jewish community as a major loss in view of the pivotal positions in which he was involved.
