The Israeli army is cracking down on soldiers whose personal appearance is sloppy. Henceforth they will have to wear their berets in public instead of carrying them in their shoulder straps as permitted by an order issued two years ago. This is a new emphasis on discipline which reportedly has been weakened by the long period of service since the October war.
