Defense Minister Moshe Dayan is still undecided about going to Washington next week, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency was informed tonight by a source close to Dayan. “He won’t be ashamed to tell Kissinger he is not coming if he eventually decides not to go,” the source said. Dayan’s apparent hesitation was at odds with the announcement made in Washington yesterday by Foreign Minister Abba Eban and concurred by Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger, that Dayan would come to Washington March 29 to present Kissinger with Israel’s position on a disengagement accord with Syria.

The deteriorating situation on the Syrian front and what he regards as extreme and far fetched demands by the Damascus regime are said to be prime consideration in Dayan’s assessment of his visit to Washington. The Defense Minister was quoted earlier this week as saying the projected trip would be worthless if Syrian intransigence was to persist.
