COPENHAGEN (Jun. 20)
President Nixon’s agreement to provide Egypt with American nuclear technology was described as “a danger to peace in the future” today by Frank Barnaby, chairman of the Swedish Institute for Peace Research (SIPRI). Addressing a press conference in Stockholm, Barnaby noted that according to information compiled by SIPRI in its new Year Book, the Middle East is now the world’s largest arms depot. He said that 86 percent of Soviet arms production and 68 percent of American arms production, was earmarked for that region.
