The Greater New York Conference on Soviet Jewry received a desperate appeal today from the Soviet Union, from Esther Tartakovsky, asking that efforts be coordinated on behalf of her son, Yuli, a key activist of Kiev who was forcibly taken from his home on July 9 by KGB officials and has not been heard from since. Mrs. Tartakovsky does not know the whereabouts of Yuli and fears that he has been arrested and a case being prepared against him.
