The peril of increased Arab propaganda in South America aimed not only against Israel, but also against the local Jewish communities, was raised today at the meeting between 12 officers of the American Jewish Congress, now visiting South America, and the leaders of Rio’s Jewish community.
The delegation headed by Phil Baum, associate executive director of the AJ Congress, and accompanied by Mark Turkov, secretary general of the Latin American section of the WJ Congress, obtained first-hand information about all important community problems. The delegation left today for Sao Paulo.
The first result of the visit here of an Arab trade delegation was the announcement that an Arabian-Brazilian bank will be established with an initial capital of 100 million cruzeiros (about $16 million). Bankers from Lebanon, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Libya will share one-third of the capital.
