Israeli Foreign Minister Yigal Allon agreed today that no peace will come to the Middle East without finding a solution “for Palestinian identity.” But he categorically rejected the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) as the representative of the Palestinians. Allon made the remarks in an interview he taped today for broadcast on the CBS Morning News Wednesday or Thursday.
He warned that there will be no detente in the world unless there is detente in the Middle East. In that connection, he said that recognition of the PLO by the United Nations General Assembly would constitute a danger to progress at the upcoming Geneva peace conference. Allon, here to head the Israeli delegation at the 29th annual session of the General Assembly, will have a breakfast meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Henry A.
