More than 11,000 New Yorkers have purchased $1000 or more in Israel Bonds this year and have become members of Shomrei Israel (Guardians of Israel), it was reported by Harvey P. Davis and Sam Paznik, chairmen of the New York Shomrei Israel campaign. “It is our goal to re-enroll as Shomrei Israel the tens of thousands of individuals and families who lent Israel at least $1000 following the Yom Kippur War, Paznik said.
In another development, Herbert Tenzer, former member of the House Judiciary Committee, a New York attorney, business and civic leader, has been named chairman for Communal Resources in the Greater New York area for Israel Bonds, It was announced by Michael Arnon, president and chief executive officer of the Israel Bond Organization. “At this crucial juncture for the economy of Israel, when its people are being asked to make new sacrifices under a system of unprecedented austerity, we have a sacred obligation to mobilize the urgently needed large-scale financial resources through Israel Bonds to help stabilize the beleaguered economy of Israel.” said Tenzer, in accepting the chairmanship.
