Eliezer Livneh, a founder of Mapai and recently a leader of the “Greater Israel Movement,” died of a heart attack at his home here yesterday at the age of 72, Mr., Livneh, whose family name was Liebenstein, was born in Lodz, attended the Russian high school there and came to Palestine in 1922. He was active in the Zionist movement, Histadrut and Hagana and was a Zionist representative in Europe. He served in the Knesset from 1949-1955.
Mr. Livneh left Mapai in the 1960s over differences on social and economic issues but later joined the Labor Party of which Mapai was a constituent. After the Six-Day War he joined the “Greater Israel Movement” which advocates the annexation of all captured Arab territories and became one of its leading spokesmen.
