TEL AVIV (Mar. 9)
“Come and spend Passover with us.” This was the call issued this weekend by Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi Shlomo Goren in the aftermath of Wednesday’s terrorist attack on the Savoy Hotel in Tel Aviv. Rabbi Goren said a mass pilgrimage to Israel would be the correct answer by world Jewry to the attack. He urged each community to organize a group for the traditional Passover pilgrimage to Israel both as a fulfillment of an important mitzva and as a demonstration of solidarity with Israel.
Meanwhile, although hotel owners have feared a mass flight of tourists from Israel and cancellations of scheduled visits, this has not materialized. El Al said it has not received any cancellations of trips to Israel while the hotels themselves reported no significant cancellations in reservations.
