The Jewish Agency has announced that it will soon open special hostels for young, single immigrants in order to encourage the immigration of people without families. According to the Agency’s immigration and absorption department, housing for singles is still one of the major problems facing newcomers.

Young immigrants do not enjoy the same privileges as immigrant families who are entitled to mortgages on easy terms for large flats. The new hostels will permit single immigrants full resident privileges for up to five years during which period presumably they will marry and be entitled to government subsidized long-term loans for the purchase of apartments.
