Three Israeli soldiers were killed and two were injured in a head-on collision on the Jerusalem-Jericho road Saturday. Three Israeli soldiers were wounded yesterday when several dozen mortar shells hit the Har Dov region on the slopes of Mt. Hermon. The shells were fired from “Fatahland” in south-eastern Lebanon, an area where the Palestinian regiment of the Syrian army is presently deployed. The fire was returned by Israeli artillery. The wounded soldiers were hospitalized.

The dead in the road crash were identified as Sgt. Nissan Cohen Elias; Cpl. Ernest Rabinowitz; and Cpl. Moshe Dori. The accident occurred when a small truck hit the soldiers’ private car on a steep grade. The two injured men were taken to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.
