Four Israeli journalists received the Tel Aviv Municipality’s Sokolow Awards for outstanding achievements in their profession, The awards were presented by Mayor Shlomo Lehat last night to Sholem Rosenfeld, editor of Maariv; Yeshayahu Avrech, an essayist on the staff of Davar; Marc Geffen, senior editorial writer of Al Hamlshmar; and Ze’ev Schiff, military correspondent of Haaretz.
Rosenfeld was cited for his 35 years as a journalist and columnist; Avrech was honored for his writing generally; and Geffen, a journalist for 25 years, for his series on “The Known and Unknown of the Yom Kippur War.” Schiff received his award for his Yom Kippur War book, “October Earthquake,” and his series dealing with Israel’s basic military and security problems.
