A delegation from the European Economic Community (EEC) has left for Cairo for discussions with Arab leaders in an effort to calm Arab anger over the Israel-EEC trade accord signed last Sunday. The EEC delegation will hold discussions mainly with the Arab League Secretary General Mahmoud Riad.

Arab leaders have expressed dissatisfaction with the Israel-EEC agreement, and many have asked for the suspension of current talks preparing the Euro-Arab dialogue which was scheduled to begin in Cairo June 10. The EEC hopes that the special delegation will be able to convince Arab leaders in Cairo that the Israel-EEC accord fits perfectly into the EEC balanced policy in the Middle East.
