Employees of Bank Leumi who were on strike Friday returned to work today after the bank obtained a back-to-work order from a Labor Court. The strike Friday closed all branches of Bank Leumi, the nation’s largest bank, causing a hardship for many salaried employees who need to cash or deposit their paychecks Friday Negotiations between management and the employees resumed tonight.

Meanwhile, the 15,000 salaried engineers, employed by the municipal and national governments and public bodies continued their partial strike which began last Wednesday. The Engineers Union, which is seeking to maintain the wage ratio between its members and other workers, has threatened to increase the strike by calling out workers who had remained in the job because they were essential to security. There has been no contact between the union and the government which is the largest employer of the engineers.
