To mark the 100th anniversary of the death of Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen the Jewish National Fund will plant a forest at the outskirts of Nazareth in the Galilee to be named after him. The JNF in Denmark has organized a fund-raising campaign for the forest, and the reaction of both Jews and Gentiles in Denmark is positive. The dedication of the forest will take place at the beginning of October. The Danish education minister is expected to take part in the ceremony, Andersen’s stories for children have almost all been translated into Hebrew.
