Israeli officials said today several Katyusha rockets were fired during the weekend at targets in the southern Golan Heights, sending settlers in several settlements to shelters. However, no damage or casualties were reported. The officials said it was uncertain whether the rockets had been fired from Jordanian or Syrian territory because the frontier between Jordan and Syria runs along the southern border of the Heights. One firing occurred border of the Heights. One firing occurred early Friday and a second early yesterday. The shellings ended a long period of relative calm in the area.
ISRAELI SOLDIER DIES OF WOUNDS
Meanwhile funeral services were held Friday at the Kibbutz Kabri in norther Galilee for Pvt. Eliav Gefen, 19, a member of the kibbutz, who died of wounds suffered in a clash last Wednesday near Kibbutz Hanita, in which three Arab terrorists were killed. Gefen’s father said at the graveside, “My son gave his life so that the people of our neighboring Kibbutz Hanita, can live and work unharmed.” Gen. Rafael Eytan, head of the Northern Command, attended the rites.
