The United Jewish Appeal’s Overseas Programs for 1975-76 will offer four innovative study missions to enable American Jewry to experience Jewish life in Israel and other lands, Frank R. Lautenberg, UJA chairman, announced today.
“Each program has been designed as a deeply enriching confrontation with Jewish destiny.” Mr. Lautenberg explained,”…our proud past…present problems…and future promise. Through features available only through the UJA, our Overseas Program offers a unique opportunity for personal encounters with the soul of the Jewish people.”
Lautenberg noted that the fact-finding tours will also “give American Jews an inside, candid view of the fabric of Israeli life today, as well as first-hand observations of UJA supported programs at work, and — on several trips — the opportunity to personally experience Jewish life behind the Iron Curtain.”
Itineraries for the Overseas Programs include visits to border settlements, development towns, immigration and absorption facilities, as well as historic sites and cultural centers. Each mission will be accompanied by a prominent Jewish leader, and several will visit Eastern Europe enroute to Israel.
