Saudi Arabia plans to open an Embassy and send a full-time ambassador in Ottawa within a few months, Canada’s External Affairs Minister Allan MacEachen told the House of Commons. He said it was “an extremely welcome development and indicates the interest that Saudi Arabia is taking in Canada.” Canada already has established an Embassy in Saudi Arabia. MacEachen said also that Canada has not yet made a decision on whether to appoint a resident ambassador in Amman, Jordan.
