Claude Levy, director of organization at the Secretariat-General of the World Jewish Congress in Geneva, died of a heart attack on Saturday. Levy, who was 48 years old, served as special assistant to the WJC Secretary General and last year was named director of organization and member of the WJC General Council.

Levy represented the WJC at the United Nations in Geneva and at numerous international conferences. He was active in the Conference of International Non-Governmental Organizations and was especially interested in activities concerning Jewish students and the Third World.

Dr. Gerhart M. Riegner, WJC Secretary General, said in a statement, “The World Jewish Congress has lost one of its most able, devoted, and promising co-workers, whose idealism and engaging personality will not be forgotten.”
