Haggai Eshed, former diplomatic correspondent of Davar, assumed his new duties today as political advisor and press aide to Yosef Almogi, chairman of the World Zionist Organization and Jewish Agency Executives. Eshed was formally named to the post earlier this week. He will assist Almogi in dealing with problems of Soviet, Arab and South American Jewries and will supervise the WZO’s press and public relations preparations for the upcoming World Zionist Congress.

Eshed, a highly regarded journalist, was a confidant of the late Premier David Ben Gurion and has published research papers on international affairs. He resigned from Davar recently when former Defense Minister Moshe Dayan asked him to become editor of a new daily newspaper that Dayan and certain American backers planned to publish in Israel. Dayan’s project has been delayed repeatedly and it is presently doubtful that the new newspaper will appear.
