Kibbutz Members Told They Must Advance Social Change

Some 600 delegates, representing three generations of kibbutz members, gathered at Shefayim last night for the annual convention of Hakibbutz Hameuchad. the kibbutz movement of the Achdut Haavoda faction. Itzhak Ben Aharon, addressing the organization which has 19,000 members in 60 kibbutzim all over Israel, said the kibbutz movement must be the spearhead for social change in the country.

It must do voluntary work to elevate the living standards of the poor so that there are no second and third generations of underprivileged groups in Israel, the former secretary general of Histadrut declared. Yosef Almost chairman of the Jewish Agency and World Zionist Organization Executives, who addressed the opening session, reported that 25 new settlements would be established over the next four years.
