Israel’s Ambassador to Washington Simcha Dinitz, returns to Israel for a series of top-level consultations in mid-September. His visit was described by political sources here as a regular visit after being out of the country for more than a year. Dinitz has been in office for three years. He took over as Ambassador in 1973, succeeding Yitzhak Rabin.
Topics of the discussions will range over all issues concerning the complex relations between Israel and the U.S., beginning with the upcoming session of the General Assembly through issues such as economic and military aid, and the possibility of a change of Administration in Washington. As far as the last subject is concerned, officials here are careful–now more than ever in the past–not to express any preferences regarding the next U.S. president.
