The Independent Liberal Party has agreed to postpone its decision to quit the coalition government until Premier Yitzhak Rabin’s return from the Socialist International Convention to be held in Europe this week, it was announced today. The ILP’s Executive voted last week in favor of defection. The matter was to have been dealt with by its Central Committee next Thursday. But Rabin urged his coalition partners not to take a decision while he is abroad. The Central Committee meeting has been reschedules for the first week in December.
Moshe Kol, Minister of Tourism and leader of the ILP, said on a radio interview today that the decision to quit the coalition was final and predicted its approval by a large majority of the Central Committee. The ILP Executive recommended that the party leave the government because of serious differences with Rabin and the Labor Alignment over domestic policies.
