Jacobson Says Congress Delay Hampering Zionist Activities

In a statement issued upon her return from the London meeting of the World Zionist Organization Executive, Mrs. Charlotte Jacobson, chairman of the Executive of the WZO’s American Section, speaking for herself, expressed her conviction today that “until the Zionist movement relinquishes the party system in the diaspora, there can be no real strengthening of the Zionist movement.”

All the discussions that took place in London over the date of the Zionist Congress, she said, “were based purely on individual party interests and not on what was best for the movement.” It seems strange, Mrs. Jacobson added, “that precisely those who had hailed the decision of the Congress tribunal mandating elections deliberately overlooked the fact that the Congress tribunal specifically stated that its decision was not a brief for delaying the Congress and there was no reason why the Congress should not take place in July.

“Unfortunately.” she concluded, “the Zionist world will now be caught up in the pre- and post- election activities in Israel, and it will be very difficult to maintain the full range of Zionist activities.”
