West Hartford police are searching for vandals who painted anti- Semitic, anti-Israel and anti-white slogans on some 97 homes here. Most of the homes are owned by non-Jews, the Connecticut Jewish Ledger reported. But the home of at least one prominent Jewish leader was a target. Police believe the vandals are the same ones who defaced four Jewish-owned homes in the King Philip area three months ago.
As in the earlier instance, the “I” in the word “America” was written in the form of a swastika painted on the home of the Jewish leader. The signature PFLP, apparently standing for Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, appeared in large letters. A torn American flag was placed on the lawn.
Other homes bore slogans such as “Kill White America” and “Kill Honkies” as well as “Viva Amin” (President Idi Amin of Uganda); “Viva Habash.” leader of the PFLP and “Avenge Entense.” subpoenium were also scrawled.
Police Chief Francis G. Reynolds said the incidents were “outrageous” and promised to assign additional patrols in the early hours of the morning when the incidents apparently occurred. He said a squad of detectives is seeking the perpetrators of both last week’s vandalism and the earlier episode. The two crimes are linked because of the similarities between them.
