A Nazi publisher of scurrilous anti-Jewish material has reappeared under another name after being closed down by the Argentine government. According to the Institute of Jewish Affairs (IJA), the publishers, “Editorial Milicia,” who specialized in Spanish translations of old Nazi literature, was closed down last September but it has surfaced again under the name “Ediciones Odal.”
All the titles that were supposed to be illegal, such as Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” and the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion,” continue to be conspicuously displayed in bookshops and kiosks throughout the country, as if nothing had happened, the IJA reported.
The firm’s latest production is a collection of speeches by Julius Streicher, the most vociferous Jew baiter of Nazi Germany. It has been published to mark the 30th anniversary of the execution of Streicher and other Nazis condemned by the Nuremberg tribunal. However, the IJA reports that Latin American Jewish leaders are not hopeful of effective government action against the anti-Semitic right.
