Police are questioning 35 Hebron Arabs in connection with yesterday’s bomb explosion on a bus carrying Israeli workers from Kiryat Gat to Beersheba. The Arabs were all passengers who left the bus at Kiryat Gat where they are employed. The bomb exploded ten minutes later showering the passengers with glass and metal splinters.
Fourteen of the 27 injured were still hospitalized today. One woman was reported in serious condition but her life is not in danger. The bus driver, an Arab from a Gaza Strip refugee camp, told police that he had inspected the vehicle after discharging the passengers at Kiryat Gat as required by regulations, but found no suspicious-looking object. There was some panic in the bus after the blast when the automatic doors did not open. Passengers squeezed out through the windows. Passing cars stopped and took many to the hospital.
