WASHINGTON (Jun. 29)
The Ministry of Education of the Chilean government and the Rector of the state university in Chile have arranged alternate dates for the examination of university admissions this year in Chile because the scheduled date falls on Yom Kippur. No examinations will be given on that day. Rabbi Seymour Siegel, of the Georgetown University faculty, reported today that Rabbi Angel Kreiman of Santiago, Chile’s Chief Rabbi, intervened with the Chilean authorities to arrange the change. Kreiman, he said, has been serving in Chile for five years and conducts a full program of religious and educational activities, including a summer camp, Hebrew schools and social meetings.
