Security Beefed Up for Passover

Download PDF for this date

All branches of Israel’s security services have been mobilized to protect the populace during the Passover holidays which begin Friday. Intensive security measures are being taken all over the country but especially in Galilee. Roadblocks have been set up in strategic areas and spot checks of vehicles are already being made. Special patrols have been assigned to the beaches and naval and police boats will patrol the sea opposite Tel Aviv and other coastal localities that may be targets for possible terrorist attacks.

They will be augmented by an aerial patrol maintained by police helicopters and Air Force planes. The Tel Aviv police have set up a special command to deal with security problems, beginning at Passover and continuing through Independence Day celebrations next month. Police all over the country have been reinforced with civilian volunteer guards. The entire population has been alerted to maintain extra vigilance for suspicious looking parcels or movements that arouse suspicion. Civilians have been instructed to call the police immediately in the event of any occurance of a suspicious nature.
