The national leadership of Hadassah-WIZO in Canada has initiated a program to further Christian-Jewish dialogue. The decision to do so was taken by the 120 delegates at a recent meeting of the group’s national executive. The program will include inviting the leaders of Christian religious and cultural organizations and the clergy to visit Independence Hall in Toronto, a museum being created by Hadassah-WIZO which will highlight the periods immediately before and after the birth of the State of Israel.
Clara Balinsky, Hadassah-WIZO president, said that while more Christian tourists visit Israel than Jewish tourists, they seldom see the Jewish aspects of Israel. Visiting the museum would give them that insight, she noted.
Other programs approved by the national executive will involve instituting national seminars for leadership training, increasing active participation of younger women through the establishment of a national young leadership executive, and creating appointments for special missions assigned to women with outstanding ability and expertise. Lily Frank, former national executive director of Hadassah-WIZO, was appointed national executive vice-president.
