The Gush Emunim accused the government of “surrendering to the pressures” of MK Yossi Sarid and the Peace Now movement, in a statement issued in response to the government’s decision to freeze the establishment of five nahal settlements on the West Bank until after the forthcoming Camp David summit. “The government has legitimized the false claim that settlements are a barrier to peace,” the Gush statement claimed. The “Movement for a Complete Eretz Yisrael” also issued a protest statement criticizing the government’s decision.
