A ceremony marking the 49th anniversary of the Hebron massacre of 1929, in which 67 Jews were killed by Arab rioters while British police looked on, was held in Hebron Monday, with the participation of the victims’ families and other guests. Interior Minister Yosef Burg, whose wife was saved by an Arab family during the massacre, spoke at the ceremony. A Torah scroll honoring the victims, begun at the ceremony, is to be completed in the coming year. Several Kiryat Arba youngsters chided Burg for closing Mishmar Hagvul Yeshiva in Kiryat Arba.
