The Cabinet has decided to establish a Public Council for the Status of Women in Israel, but it postponed a decision to appoint an advisor on women’s affairs to each governmental ministry. The Cabinet’s action Sunday followed a report submitted to Premier Menachem Begin six months ago by the Namir Committee on the status of women. It was subsequently endorsed by the committee of ministers for social affairs. Deputy Premier Yigael Yadin will be in charge of the Council’s operations. He plans to appoint an advisor on women’s affairs to his office as well. Begin will appoint the members of the Council.
