For the first time in the history of Jews in Brazil, two Brazilian-born Jewish students have been ordained at the Mahane Israel Yeshiva in Petropolis. The two rabbis, Itzhak Mishan and Pinhas Ellovitz, both of Sao Paulo, have already been offered posts by several congregations in different parts of the country which presently lack spiritual leaders.
