A report prepared for the 84th national convention of the Jewish War Veterans which begins tomorrow at the town and Country Hotel in San Diego, Calif., says that “more than 200 Nazi war criminals have found haven in the United States over the past three decades.”
The report, by Charles Allen Jr., an author and journalist who has been investigating Nazi activities in this country for several decades, adds: “An estimated 149 of them have been knowingly employed by government agencies, notably Intelligence, headed by the FBI, CIA, State Department and the Army, Navy and Air Force.”
Allen’s report charged that the newly-formed. Justice Department’s Office of Special Investigations lacks vigilance in the prosecution of Nazi war criminals. He said the new director of the Office, Walter Rockler, “approached insolence when he told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency” earlier this year: “There have been people who have suspected there are probably a fair number of war criminals — Nazis — hanging around the U.S. It’s probably worth looking into.” Allen is a contributing editor of The Churchman magazine, a member of the editorial board of Jewish Currents, and the author of “Nazi War Criminals Among Us.”
