The Auschwitz concentration camp, an infamous symbol of the Nazi atrocities in World War II , has been placed on the World Heritage List as a site to be preserved for all mankind, it was disclosed by UNESCO officials here. The camp site was one of more than 40 chosen by the UN agency.
