Edgar Bronfman was unanimously elected acting president of the World Jewish Congress at a meeting of its executive in London on April 13 and 14. Bronfman, who served for the past seven years as chairman of the North American Branch of the WJC, was nominated by Philip Klutznick, who went on leave of absence from the presidency when appointed Secretary of Commerce by President Carter. The nomination was seconded by Kalman Sultanik and Dr. Nissim Goon, vice president of the WJC, as well as by Jacques Torczyner.
