Argentine Jewish Community Denounces Bombing of Two Jewish Schools

The recent bombing of two Jewish schools and the increasing availability of Nazi literature have been denounced by the Argentine Jewish community, according to the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith. DAIA, the representative body of the community, issued a public statement expressing its “condemnation and alarm.”

Rabbi Morton Rosenthal, director of the ADL’s Latin American Affairs Department, reported that a high explosive bomb caused considerable damage, but no injuries, at the ORT Technical School in Buenos Aires. Another bomb was placed at the J.N. Bialik Central School, but officials of the Federal Police were able to disarm that bomb before detonation.

The DAIA attributed the incidents, “the first after many months of tranquility,” to “criminal forces of hate and racist violence … trying to regain the initiative in their sinister designs for national disintegration.” It cited the increasing availability of Nazi publications on newsstands as a source of ideological support for the anti-Semitic elements.

According to Rosenthal, one of the Nazi publications now on sale is “Papeles,” published by the Integral Nationalist Aryan Party. A recent issue of the monthly magazine carried an article claiming, “Hitler Was Right!”
