Foreign Minister Yitzhak Shamir will fly to Cairo tomorrow for a meeting with President Anwar Sadat and will return to Israel Wednesday morning. The 24-hour visit is at the invitation of Egypt’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Butros Ghali. Observers here said it was an indication of Sadat’s desire to respond to Israel’s complaints that Egypt is dragging its feet in the process of normalizing relations with Israel.

Shamir’s meeting with Sadat will be his first since the Egyption leader addressed the Knesset in November 1977. At that time, Shamir was Speaker of the Knesset. He will be accompanied on his trip by David Kimche, Director General of the Foreign Ministry, Bureau Chief Elyakim Rubinstein, and Yosef Hadass who is in charge of the Egyptian Desk.
