Irving Bernstein, executive vice chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, was taken ill in Israel during the recent meeting of the Jewish Agency Board of Governors. Shortly after his return he entered a hospital in New York City for an extensive series of diagnostic tests. The illness was diagnosed as a mild heart attack, a spokesperson for the UJA said Wednesday. He is currently under treatment and resting comfortably and is in the process of recovering, it was reported. The date of his projected return to his office has not yet been determined.
