Israeli aircraft heavily attacked Palestine Liberation Organization targets in south Lebanon today for the second time in two days and returned safely to their bases, an army spokesman said. There were no clashes with Syrian aircraft.
The army identified the targets as Mia Zamiya, a mile from Sidon the coast where the Fatah organization has vehicle maintenance workshops; Wadi El-Akhtar, about a mile from Nabatiya in the eastern sector where Ahmed Jibral’s Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine has rocket launchers and anti-aircraft installations; Hamadiya, about two miles northeast of Tyre on the coast; and the Al Halilya base attacked yesterday, which has tank and tank transporters parked in its area. The pilots reported accurate hits on all targets.
As in previous ground and air attacks, the raid was officially described as a pre-emptive strike to frustrate terrorist plans to attack Israel.
