Two heavily armed Arab terrorists were captured by an Israel army patrol in the Jordan Valley Friday after infiltrating from Jordanian territory, a military spokesman announced today. He said the pair was captured without a fight and identified as members of El Fatah, the military arm of the Palestine Liberation Organization.
The incident was the second in four months in which PLO terrorists entered Israel from Jordan. Israeli sources said these attempts are a serious breach of the cease-fire in effect along the Lebanese border since last July.
According to the military spokesman, an army patrol spotted the tracks of the infiltrators on the bank of the Jordan River north of Argamon. The two men were found shortly ofterwards. One surrendered and the other attempted to escape back across the river but was captured after a brief chase. They were carrying large quantities of arms, ammuniton and sabotage material, including explosives, they army said.
