Anatoly Shcharansky has informed his family that his health is somewhat better and that he is looking forward to a visit from his brother which was cancelled in June but is now re-scheduled for this week, the National Conference on Soviet Jewry reported today. Letters to that effect were received by Shcharansky’s mother, Ida Milgrom and his brother, Leonid Shcharansky, the NCSJ said.

The Jewish dissident, confined to Chistipol prison was reported in poor health last month from the effects of drugs administered by prison doctors after he complained of chest pains.
