The Labor Alignment would defeat Likud by a 16 seat Knesset margin if elections were held now, according to the latest public opinion poll published in the Jerusalem Post and Maariv. The poll, conducted by the Modiin Ezrachi Research Institute, gave Labor 57 mandates in the 120-member Knesset 10 more than it won in the 1981 election while Likud would drop from its present 48, to 41 seats. According to the poll, the other parties would retain their present representation with only minor changes. The National Religious Party, which lost heavily in 1981, would drop from six to five seats.
