Osip Lokshin, a 41-year-old lawyer and Jewish activist from Kishinev, was released from a Soviet labor camp late last month after completing a three year sentence for “violating public order” and “defaming the Soviet state,” the National Conference on Soviet Jewry reported today.
Lokshin and another activist, Vladimir Tsukerman, were arrested in May, 1980 after staging a protest march in Kishinev with 12 other refuseniks. They and their families had been waiting for over five years for permission to emigrate. Tsukerman, who drew a similar sentence, was released several weeks ago, the NCSJ reported.
