Woman Injured by Home-made Bomb

A home-made bomb slightly injured a woman in the main street of Acre, north of Haifa, yesterday. Police detained about 20 suspects. They said it was reasonable to assume the device was planted by terrorists though they could not rule out entirely a feud between criminal elements.

The bomb consisted of a pipe packed with nails, bolts and an explosive charge activated by a timing mechanism from a watch. It was concealed near a refrigerator at the entrance to a cafe in Ben Ami Street.

In Jerusalem Sunday, a booby-trapped vehicle was safely dismantled in a street in the ultra-Orthodox Mea Shearim quarter. Police were summoned by a vendor who became suspicious of a white Volkswagon van parked in the street.
