Two Bomb Explosions in Israel

Two explosive devices went off in Israel in the past 24 hours but caused no casualties or damage. The first, a bomb, exploded today in Haifa, near the old railway station east of the port area. The second, an explosive charge, went off last night near the Ashkelon road junction.

The blasts occurred following the marking last weekend of the anniversary of the Balfour Declaration of 1917, in which Great Britain announced it “looked with favor” upon the establishment of a Jewish homeland. The anniversary has become a traditional date for Arab disturbances in Israel.
