TEL AVIV (Jan. 21)
Some 10,000 government hospital employes on strike since Monday, were ordered by a Jerusalem labor court Wednesday to return to their jobs immediately. But a spokesperson for the strikers indicated that the court order would not be observed.
The strike by administrative, service and maintenance personnel hit 29 government hospitals all over the country. The workers are demanding that heir salaries be equalized with those of employes of Kupat Holim, the Histadrut sick-fund.
Meanwhile, hospital conditions deteriorated. Kitchens, laundries and housekeeping services are paralyzed. Heating and water supply systems are untended and there is no one at the desks to handle admissions and discharges.
